To meet this demand, the government has relaxed some requirements for hiring staff under the HELP program.
Additionally, institutions like NYU Langone offer free training so interested people can become community health workers.
These types of staff, particularly bilinguals, are a key element in healthcare facilities as they help patients who do not speak English better understand their symptoms and treatments.
They also provide patients with a link to resources that are available to them and that they cannot access.
NYU Langone’s Beyond Bridges program offers training that covers core concepts such as biomedical ethics, clinical research principles, scientific concepts, and topics such as diversity and inclusion.
This training can help them apply for jobs that offer salaries between $40,000 and $100,000 per year.
