We’ve told you about “Malibu Horror Story” before, but just today we were able to see the first official trailer for the film, which will be released in limited release in American theaters on October 20th.
This is a found footage film set over a period of ten years in Malibu, California, following the mysterious disappearance of four of the school’s most popular boys after prom.
A team of paranormal investigators enter a sacred cave in the hills of Malibu and try to find out what happened to the young people… What they will discover there will be a terrible truth.
Scott Slone directed, wrote and produced the film for over ten years, using 30 different cameras, multiple codes and drawings inspired by classics of the subgenre such as Paranormal Activity or Cloverfield.
Last August, the director commented: “I’m a big fan of the found footage genre and have always tried to do something different with the format and structure with which we have always seen these types of films.”
He also added, “Our story is told from multiple perspectives, timelines and media formats compiled over several years. Our goal is to integrate all of these elements and weave them into the structure of a traditional horror film that will appeal not only to fans of found footage, but to all horror film fans.”
Dylan Sprayberry, Robert Bailey Jr., Valentina de Angelis, Rebecca Forsythe and Troy James star in the film.
