National Day celebrations began this weekend, and Leo Rey knows it. The singer is looking forward to these dates to enjoy Chilean gastronomy, drinks and traditions. In an interview with La Cuarta, the musician delivered his must-haves for September 18th.
“My favorite 18th century food is, of course, empanadas; the roast, however, as always; The chocolate cake; There are so many delicious things to do on September 18th. But I’m a big fan of homemade food: casseroles, meatballs, pantrucas and all that stuff. “We have to take advantage of the fact that it smells like Chile during the national holidays,” he said first.
As for what his favorite drink is during these celebrations, Leo Rey said without hesitation: “A favorite Chilean drink is the earthquake because it is sweet and rich and with one is like Guasca, hahaha, enough, hahaha,” revealed the artist.
“I love my country”
Despite everything, when he opened up to Diario Pop, Leo Rey confessed his great love for the country and its culture. “It’s great to be Chilean, I love it, I’m proud. My favorite song, the one I like the most, is the national song; I get hairy and sing it with great pride. I feel like my country is wonderful, it has everything. I always say it’s the ‘little United States,'” he commented.
Although yes, he realizes that not everything is good, but that is not a condition for his love. “Although people’s culture is a bit rigid and the artistic career is sometimes a bit uncomfortable, because sometimes they have you at the top, wow!, and everyone loves, appreciates and idolizes you; Then they forget about it and say goodbye. It’s not like in Argentina, where idols are taken care of practically their entire lives,” he added.
“But I love my country. I like its streets, its landscapes and its extremes: the north is very hot and the south is very cold… I love, I love Chile. I even thought about singing the national anthem there at some point. “I love my country,” concluded the musician.
