CLEVELAND ( Associated Press) – Police have arrested a man after a shooting at a Cleveland home on Friday night left two adults and a teen dead and an adult and a girl seriously injured.
Cleveland police said the 41-year-old inmate asked patrol officers to stop at about 8:00 p.m. and told them that five people had been shot at a home in the Central Brooklyn neighborhood, a few kilometers southwest of downtown. (miles) away.
A relative of the two adults killed was arrested at the scene. Police said two adults and a teen were confirmed dead in the home.
The Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Miguel Gonzalez, 69, Angelique Gonzalez, 34, and their son Jayden Baez, 16.
Police said a 48-year-old man and his 8-year-old daughter were hospitalized in critical condition.
Police Chief Wayne Drummond said it appeared to be an isolated family incident. So far, authorities have not released details of the shooting and have not announced any charges, although police said they have already opened an investigation into manslaughter and aggravated assault.
In a joint statement, Councilor Jasmine Santana and local council chairman Blaine Griffin said, “This family tragedy is heartbreaking. Our condolences to the family and friends of the victims.”
Mayor Justin Bibb said the case was “especially sad because it happened in a home, a place where a family should feel safe and secure.”
“My prayers are with the victims and their families, friends and neighbors as they go through this tragic situation,” Bibb said in a statement, according to WKYC-TV.
