The Lampung Regional Police was successful in eliminating an online gambling syndicate in Tangerang, Banten through a raiding operation. A total of 27 people were made suspects in this case.
The raid was carried out last Saturday (23/7) by the Sub-Directorate V Cybercrime team of Lampung Police Detreschremes at a shophouse used as an online gambling site office. The police rescued dozens of laborers, men and women, from inside the three-storey shop. He is also the operator and administrator of the online gambling site.
A total of 27 people, including 18 men and 9 women, were brought in by the police and have now been named suspects with different roles. Apart from the suspects, the police have also seized evidence in the form of 21 computers, 3 routers and 34 mobile phones.
Brigadier General Subianto, deputy chief of Lampung police, said that the disclosure of this case started some time ago with the arrest of two celebrities as well as YouTubers.
Exploding the case at Lampung Police Headquarters on Tuesday (26/7/2022), he said, “With the arrest of both, the team succeeded in developing the case and traced the location which was the office of the Syndicate. as was used.”
In the organized press conference, 27 suspects were presented with evidence.
The one-star general said an irregularity was found earlier in a patrol carried out by the Cyber Crime Sub-Directorate which was suspected to be a criminal act.
“Then when it was investigated it was proved that there was a criminal act of online gambling. Then an investigation was done and this matter came to light.”
The 27 suspects are currently being detained at the Lampung Regional Police Headquarters and charged with the threat of imprisonment of 6 years under Article 27 Article 2 Juno Article 45 Article 2 of ITE Law No. 19 of 2016 Law No. 11 of 2008 has been applied.
