To get better tools on coexistence, a three-hour online training course is now offered in Quebec workplaces, costing $10.
The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon by Quebec City, Laval University and Beneva.
“We start from a need expressed by employers: to better understand diversity in all its forms and accommodate it in the workplace,” explained Quebec Mayor Bruno Marchand at a press conference.
Specifically, people who follow the training will have access to four training modules “that will present good practices that promote the reception and inclusion of people from diversity and collaboration in the workplace.” This includes scenarios, reflection exercises and testimonials.
The training was prepared by experts from the Research Chair on Integration and Management of Diversity in Employment (CRIDE) and the Professional Development Service (SDP) of Laval University in collaboration with the diversity, equity and inclusion consultancy of the Quebec City.
A city that is transforming
This formation is all the more interesting as Quebec City becomes increasingly “varied” (a record number of arrivals was recorded there in 2022) and workplaces are no longer as homogeneous as before, explained Mr. . Marching.
“They will tell me that this is not the only stone of the building we are trying to build. You are totally right. It’s just another stone. It’s not enough alone. It is a testament to this community in motion,” added the mayor of Quebec.
Several partners will offer this training to their staff. These are the Municipality, Laval University, Beneva (which invests $250,000), Quebec Airport, La Maison Simons, the Museum of Civilization, Norda Stelo and Québec International.
In addition to the online training, Quebec City also announced a lecture by Dean Bergeron, Paralympic medalist, actuary and speaker emeritus, on October 26 at the Museum of Civilization, as well as other awareness-raising activities.
