Only a big change in Iran or Syria can effect real change in Lebanon: Nadeem Koteich

Lebanon as a country has been completely hijacked, and it will never see any real change, unless there is a major change in Iran or Syria, political satirist and commentator Nadeem Kotech said with MBC. Said in an interview.

Kotech described Lebanon as a “hijacked” country “captured by Hezbollah’s Iran-allied militia”.

“Indeed, there is no unit inside Lebanon that can wipe out Hezbollah or undermine its fundamental capabilities, especially its military capabilities,” he said.

“Unless there is a big change in Iran, there will be no big change in Lebanon either. It’s as simple as that,” he said, “or even a major change in Syria could be in the works, as it would affect Lebanon’s internal affairs.”

Kotech drew comparisons to history to explain Iran’s influence on Lebanon.

“We must remember that former communist parties around the world were strong as long as the Central Communist Party of the Soviet Union was intact and powerful,” he said.

“When the Soviet Union collapsed, these communist parties became dormant everywhere, and in today’s world we can hardly think of any remaining communist parties in the world. They almost became extinct. Comparison of communist parties I have more pandas,” he said.

Hezbollah’s party and allies lost their parliamentary majority in last week’s elections, benefiting its rival Lebanese Force Party.
