Ontario reports 3 new COVID-19 deaths; Positivity at 3-month low

Ontario reported three new COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, seeing the lowest number of test positives since February.

The Health Ministry says that all three deaths occurred in the last 30 days.

65 people have died in the last seven days, 399 in the last 30 days and 13,288 since the start of the pandemic.

Provincial laboratories processed 6,998 test samples in the last 24 hours, generating a positivity rate of 7.1 percent.

This is the lowest positivity rate recorded since February 22.

The average positivity in the last week was 7.8 per cent, down from 8.9 per cent a week ago.

The Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table says viral spread in wastewater continues to decline in all areas of the province.

The total hospitalization was not available on Sunday, but there were 111 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 in hospital ICUs across the province, up from four since Saturday.

There has been a shortage of 36 patients in the ICU due to COVID-19 in the last seven days.

Of the 710 cases of COVID-19 confirmed through access to PCR testing on Sunday, 60 were unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, 127 had two doses of the vaccine, 443 had three doses. or higher doses and the immunization status of 80 others was not known.

The Health Ministry says 14,204 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given on Saturday.

Of these, 892 were the first dose, 1,351 were the second dose, 2,001 were the third dose and 9,960 were the fourth dose.
