FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.—About 60 health workers and residents of Orange County gather on October 1 in Fountain Valley, California, to protest the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers.
The California Department of Public Health issued an order in August requiring all healthcare workers to be fully vaccinated by September 30.
A recently established organization, America’s Healthcare Workers for Medical Freedom, started this “Stop the Mandate Rally”. The rally took place near the intersection of Talbert and Brookhurst in Fountain Valley. The protesters at the rally included MemorialCare workers, patients and local residents.
Nicole Chow, a nurse working at Orange Coast MemorialCare Medical Center, told The Epoch Times she came out because the hospital announced in August that unaffiliated workers could be terminated. She mentioned that she received both doses earlier this year and had serious side effects after the vaccine.
“So basically, they’re telling us you have to get vaccinated, or you could possibly be terminated,” Chow told The Epoch Times.
“After I took the vaccine I noticed I was having some severe headaches… I had problems with taste; some things just feel weird to me now.”
Chow said she would not consider getting a booster and stressed that getting a vaccine should be an option. Chow explained that she only got the vaccine because she wanted to protect her family and be a good example to her patients, adding that she felt the vaccine was not forced on health workers by their employers or the government. should go.
Felicia Wayford, one of the protesters at the rally, said she believes people have a right to decide what to put in their bodies and said she is concerned about the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine .
“We already know that there are studies that show that it causes inflammation of the heart, blood clots. We don’t know what will happen to your body. We know whether it can cause organ failure… what Is it going to affect fertility? We don’t know these answers, yet they are inevitable,” Wayford told The Epoch Times.
The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) is a safety monitoring program that helps to track any post-vaccination adverse event including death.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, since December 2020, VAERS has received approximately 8164 cases of death and 1,541 reports of myocarditis or pericarditis in people 30 years of age and younger who have received the COVID-19 vaccine as of September 22, 2021. are related to.
