Osorio says goodbye to Guadalajara early

Camila Osorio lost to Magdalena Frech in their duel for the first round of the WTA 1000 in Guadalajara in two sets (6-1, 6-2). The Pole will face eighth seed Ekaterina Alexandrova in her next game.

Debut moment for Camila Osorio at this Guadalajara Open Akron, with a field to look forward to if they could add a few more wins. The Colombian had a poor North American tour overall and was forced to withdraw in San Diego last week due to a right thigh problem. His rival was the Pole Magdalena Frech with a similar ranking and also not very skilled on fast tracks.

Osorio was eliminated in the first round

A balanced start to the game with early break opportunities for both players, but without any concreteness. Frech would be the one to strike first in the fourth game by making the break, then confirming it with his serve and heading into the next break with a solid 4-1 on the scoreboard. After this unfavorable passage, the Colombian lost concentration and ended up losing her serve game again, practically destroying the first set. No more bumps in service, Frech won the first set confidently 6:1.

The second quarter would start with the same negative tone, especially with Osorio at a very low level, without consistency in her shots and against an opponent who was ready to take advantage of the situation. Two consecutive breaks for the European Championship left them on the verge of taking the win, but Camila would try again to regain one of the breaks and could therefore look forward to turning things around, even if the prospects were still very poor. However, Another break at zero for the Pole would allow her to complete the task later with a final 6-2.
