Switzerland will receive the participants of the Giro d’Italia this Friday on the occasion of the thirteenth stage, which will start in the town of Borgofranco D’Ivrea and end at Crans Montana station.
This 199 kilometer journey will be eight shorter than initially planned as a result of snowfall and the risk of possible avalanches. In this case, the modifications will mean that you will not pass over the top of Puerto del Gran San Bernardo but through a tunnel and therefore the so-called “Cima Coppi”, the highest one through which the cyclists go around in each edition, on the second day Go. In addition to this climb, the Croix de Coeur port of the first category will also be climbed.
The Swiss region will also be the protagonist on the next day, as the town of Sierre, in Los Alpes, will serve as the starting point of stage 15, which will cover 194 kilometers and have a finish line in Cassano Magnano.
Switzerland has already received the peloton participating in the Italian stage. In fact, the country became the first country to host a forum abroad, a fact that happened in 1920.
