The US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Target have recalled more than 200,000 Pillowfort-Vet packs because they may pose a choking hazard.
Four children are trapped in the blanket, in which a 4-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl have died. According to the recall notice, the girls suffocated to death in April 2022 at their home in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
The removed blankets weighed six pounds (about 3 kg) and measured 60 inches long by 40 inches wide (152 by 102 cm). They have a removable, waterproof, and washable cover in eight different designs or colors. They are unicorn white (White) and unicorn pink (Pink), space navy (Blue), constellation blue (Blue), buffalo plaid red (Red), pink (Pink), blue (Blue) and gray (Grey).
Item numbers are printed on the fabric label of the removable blanket cover. Item number 097-02-0140 for unicorn – white, 097-02-0148 for space navy, 097-02-0361 for pink, 097-02-0363 for blue, 097-02-0364 for gray , 097- 02- 1603 for buffalo plaid – red, 097-02-3904 for blue constellation and 097-02-3905 for unicorn – pink.
The blankets were made in China, and sold between December 2018 and September 2022 for $40, exclusively at Target stores and online.
Customers can contact Target any day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. CET to receive a refund by calling 800-440-0680 or visiting a Target store. Online customers can go to www.target.com and click on “Recall Information” then “Home Goods.”
