A total of 1,176 children in need of health care have been identified so far by external teams of the Departmental Health Secretariat, who travel to the municipalities of Uribea, Manouri, Macao and Riohacha.
Armando Pulido, La Guajira’s health secretary, said the minors were sent to their respective EPS, which are monitored.
In addition, 20,717 families and 9,834 minors have been characterized.
The information was collected by 24 external teams from the Governor’s Office of La Guajira, which identifies risk in municipalities initiated by the 2017 Ruling T-302 issued by the Constitutional Court.
The official explained that they articulate tasks with the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare, the Ministry of Health, the municipalities, the various EPS and IPS.
“We do one-on-one follow-up of all children who have presented with malnutrition, a follow-up table, super instant notification, which is done every day at eleven in the morning, where the status of each child who is malnourished is are receiving treatment either in the community sector or in an intra-hospital manner”, he explained.
He indicated that progress has also been made in the care of pregnant women.
“He congratulated the reference and the department as they were most prudent in following the plan to reduce maternal mortality,” he added.
He said that the possibility was coordinated with the National Director of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute that children who are at risk of malnutrition could be beneficiaries of any of the programs in the tables that were expressed with all levels of government Is.
