Paradiso Cinema Theater opened its doors on Tuesday night. Adriana Maggio, Secretary of Culture of La Pampa; The Martin-de Menza family, patrons of the project; And theater producer Carlos Rotemberg led the announcement today of the opening of the modern complex, located on National Route 35, in front of the airport in downtown Santa Rosa.
It is the largest cinema-theater in La Pampa and the largest in the center of the country. The project took about 13 years to complete and was slated for inauguration last year, but the ribbon cutting had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
This morning, in a press conference, Miguel ngel Martín, his wife María Inés di Menza and their children Lucía, Lucas and Tomas presented to the media the room that began tonight with their specific purpose in the theater sector. “Dracula, El Musical”, the legendary show created by Pepe Cibrian and Angel Mahler, on their farewell tour. It was the first of two high-level nights as the cast will be receiving the same stage this Wednesday.
Theatrical producer and President of the Argentine Association of Theater Entrepreneurs (AAQDET), Carlos Rotemberg opened the meeting with the press. The successful businessmen, who exercised a sort of “sponsorship” with the Martin-de Menza family in the realization of the project, echoed their spirit for the opening. “I say this as a playwright, those of us who are in this activity, first started as playwrights and then we are businessmen, for Santa Rosa in particular and for La Pampa in general, a The fact of having a new room with thousand seats, in the center of the country, with a stage like the one built here, is very important,” he said. “I always say that theater buildings outnumber people and companies, I know because I have been practicing it for 47 years,” he said.
Rotemberg recalls the first contact with the family. “My first thought was to tell them ‘I don’t know if (construction) will be financially useful, but there is no doubt that it will give you a lot of satisfaction and not a few headaches.’ It is a very rich activity, which contributes to the cultural heritage of all citizens”, he said.
Adriana Maggio, for her part, expressed her greetings to Governor Sergio Ziliotto, and predicted a promising future for the brand new cultural project. “I join in the joy emanating from this crazy family dream, the government of La Pampa strongly supporting this beautiful undertaking and as a militias of culture and art for so many years, this inaugural event is a tribute to a province production conservative. The broad form combines, with a traditional tendency because its economy is based on agriculture and livestock, we need to understand that culture is very broad, that art is a part of it, and that there is a cultural industry associated with the arts. Let his strength help us. I am convinced and so is my government that we should diversify and give way to these new industries, so we are grateful for this step taken in La Pampa”, he said.
In the end, the family thanked the municipality and government of La Pampa. “We count on and value that support, we are proud to belong to this province. Well, we recognize the artists who do us so much good too. It’s time to breathe into the theater and make us feel closer. That is, they transmit emotions to us, they make us vibrate with all that they create and produce.
