A few days ago, Pascal Vincent sent a big message to his star players.
In fact, Patrik Laine and Johnny Gaudreau were benched at the end of the third period. This made Columbus talk because not only did the team lose by a score of 3-2, but Gaudreau and Laine were the two highest paid forwards on the team.
Today, Vincent continued his punishments by choosing to leave Patrik Laine out before tonight’s game against the Flyers.
And let’s say that the timing too bad…
Two years ago today, Laine’s father lost his life and on his Instagram story earlier today, Finn wanted to remind people that he still thinks of her.
He may have wanted to play in honor of his father, but Vincent apparently had other plans.
As noted in Jeff Svoboda’s tweet above, Columbus will play 11 forwards and seven defensemen. The game will start at 5:30 pm.
The will be healthy scratch for the first time in his career he has only two goals and one assist in nine games since the start of the season. The main person concerned was apparently unhappy with the decision.
However, he drew praise from his head coach at the start of the season. In an interview with BPM Sports in early October, Pascal Vincent said he was very impressed with Laine’s game.
I think that since then, he has changed his mind. Let’s see if a game in the stands will serve as a lesson for his attacker.
Remember that the latter is paid $8.7 million per year until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
