One of the things I miss the most about the Xbox One generation is the Japanese games. Microsoft’s strategy of turning its back on the eastern market is a terrible shot in the foot. It also didn’t help that the Japanese industry was already focused on Sony and Nintendo at the time. However, things have changed dramatically since Spencer and his team realized that they could not exist without Japanese support. Not so much though if they want a service like Game Pass to succeed, because it needs to offer more variety.
The famous “Phil’s Trips to Japan” They bear fruit over time., and with the exception of Square Enix, most of the major third parties are fully equipped with Xbox. At least there are a fair number of drinkable games in this style.
Xbox will have more Japanese games in the future
But, as if that wasn’t enough, the Americans bought an entire studio to cover this niche, Tango Gameworks. After the success of Ghostwire Tokyo and HiFi Rush, we’re all waiting to find out what’s next from the studio founded by Shinji Mikami. What we do know is that the second installment of Ghostwire Tokyo was leaked in the trial documents against the FTC, so at least we can confirm this.
However, as Microsoft It also has deals with third-party studios that they will make exclusive Japanese style games. We don’t know about it yet because it might be early, but Phil SPencer himself confirmed in a recent interview at the Tokyo Game Show that we can expect Japanese first-party and third-party games in his console.
You can count on that. In fact, we released “Hi-Fi RUSH” this year. Although it is a smaller work than a masterpiece like “Blue Dragon,” it is still a high quality work. Japanese game creators are also part of Microsoft Game Studios, and while there are some titles yet to be announced, we are working with Japanese manufacturers to develop new games. The development environment is growing, including first-party and third-party, so I think we can expect to see more Japanese titles in the future.
It remains to be seen what the games are, some insiders have already announced that there is an unannounced game for Xbox, this game will be exclusive, of course. We also have on the horizon an exclusive Kojima Productions game that we don’t know much about, and Matt Smith’s announcement that Xbox Game Studios Publishing is working with top-tier Japanese studios to bring games to the ecosystem on Xbox.
