Photographs of proud boy’s model helped detectives arrest him for January 6 attack on cops

The proud boy and military veteran who tried to storm the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 was arrested this week after online sleuths identified him using photos from his modeling career.

According to court records, Alan Fisher, also known as A.J. Fisher, was arrested in Florida and charged with assaulting, resisting or obstructing federal officials, civil unrest, breaking into closed buildings or property, and violent entry and disorderly conduct. on the grounds of the Capitol.

Fisher was seen marching with the Proud Boys on January 6 and entering a tunnel on the west side of the Capitol, where some of the most violent confrontations of the day took place. Internet detectives dubbed the man who was not. 222 on the FBI Capitol Violence webpage as “RayBanTerrorist”.

While Fischer appeared to have removed most of his social media presence, it wasn’t enough. Several different civilian investigators were working on the case, and one of the breakthroughs came when the detectives stumbled upon a news story from Tampa Bay that included images of New Year’s Eve 2019, including a photo from Fisher’s Instagram page that gave them a tip. . From there they found additional photographs that were featured on various social networking sites, as well as a photo from his modeling career.

Frank W. McDermott, Fisher’s attorney, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

While Fisher’s arms were covered when he participated in the Capitol attack, they weren’t when he traveled to D.C. in December 2020 and posed for a photo with the Proud Boys. His unique tattoos shown in this photo, which were also seen in some of his shirtless model photos, helped confirm his identity.

Other models were arrested in connection with the Capitol attack, including Logan Barnhart, a bodybuilder who appeared on the covers of romance novels; and Michael Aaron Kariko, an actor and model who was also caught using his Instagram.

Two other Proud Boy partners, Zachary Johnson and Dion Rajewski, were arrested this week. As are two Oathkeepers, Stuart Rhodes and Edward Vallejo, who are now indicted for mutinous conspiracy along with several other previously indicted Oathkeepers.

Last year, more than 700 people were arrested in connection with the January 6 attacks, but that’s still about a quarter of the more than 2,500 people involved in criminal activity that day.
