Pla’s footwear moves out of offices and enters China with multi-brand

PLA, Stomping. The Balearic footwear company, which was headquartered in the center of Cineau (Mallorca), has moved its offices, warehouses and design studio to an old 700-square-metre flour mill located on the outskirts of the same city.

“This allowed us to have a smaller structure of machinery, so now we manage all the samples”, explained company founder and former camper Irene Pukes to Modes.

The company operates in Spain through its e-commerce and multi-brand points of sale located in the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Madrid, the Basque Country and Catalonia.among other autonomous communities.

Internationally, the company distributes its products through its digital channel and through local distributors located in countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Israel and Japan. This year, Pla has also started operating with two points of sale in China.

“The United Kingdom is one of our most important markets in terms of trade volume, but the Asian market is also gaining more and more influence”Pukes says, emphasizing that the company does not have a defined strategy for expanding its presence overseas.

The PLA began its journey in 2012 under the hands of Irene Pukas and Araceli Iranjo., In 2014, Iranzo separated from the company and remained in the hands of Peukes. The company specializes in handmade shoes made from a single jute rope.

All models are manufactured in Bangladesh and finished in Mallorca, where the sole is incorporated into the shoe along with other finishes. PLA closes out pre-pandemic year with sales of 79,600 euros, Last year, Pla increased its turnover to 123,700 EUR.

Two years ago, Peukes decided to professionalize Pla and founded the company Pla Design & Crafts. “Now that we are taking our direction,” explains Peukes, who began his career as a clothing designer in 1999 and worked at Camper for eight years as a shoe designer. Pla’s team is made up of six people.

What starts with shoes ends with cushions, In recent years, PLA has been diversifying its product offering., It now also has a children’s fashion collection, and last month launched its first homewear collection. “We aim to drive brand growth by relying on these new categories,” says the businessman.
