PLD condemns the dire situation due to water shortage in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) denounces that the population lives in dire conditions due to lack of water and blames the government of the Modern Revolutionary Party for this.

He said investment in works to conserve water resources is needed and the irrational use of water reservoirs from dams “to cover up errors in the administration of power generation plants”.

The position of the PLD was determined by Olgo Fernández and Alfonso Ureña, Secretaries of Public Works, and the entourage of this political entity.

He said the government had neglected important places for consultation and decision-making and “dedicated itself to following guidelines that do not make logical sense, nor do they follow technical or scientific criteria.”

“Hydrographic basins are not being attended to; We already know what is happening with the Ministry of the Environment; And in the face of an obvious water problem, there is no communication campaign to raise awareness about the efficient and rational use of water consumption,” he indicated, according to a note from the Purple Party’s communications secretary.

He assured that Abel Martínez, the PLD’s presidential candidate, has emphasized the solutions that the government should consider to solve the problem of water scarcity in the country.

He indicated that among the actions mentioned by Martínez are “cleaning all the reservoirs of sediment, investing seven billion, which he says in a good campaign for the rational use of water, to try to change people’s perception and habits”. Water consumption measurement systems by regions are needed to identify natural resource losses as well as drilling wells and building reservoirs in communities.
