Police confirm explosive attack on patrol in Meta

This Sunday, September 17, the National Police reported an attack on the road that leads from the municipality of Mesetas to Granada, at the entrance to Trocha Cinco, in the department of Meta. There, suspected FARC dissident members threw an explosive at a prison vehicle.

“Due to these terrorist attacks aimed at disturbing the peace of the civilian population, a special criminal investigation and intelligence team has been set up to carry out the work of identifying, locating and arresting the terrorists, in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office.” Perpetrators and intellectuals, who carried out this violent action,” reported Colonel José Hair Urrego Baquero, commander (s) of the Meta Police Department.

Colonel Urrego also pointed out that no police officers were injured in the incident and only property damage was caused.

For his part, the governor of Meta, Juan Guillermo Zuluaga, referred to the attack by the dissidents in his X report.

“As a police patrol was driving from Mesetas to Granada, an explosive device was thrown. The uniformed officers are out of danger and without injuries, we only have damage to the vehicle. The little angels of the dissidents continue to attract attention and cause damage to the area,” he pointed out.

At a location yet to be defined in the north of the Cauca department, from tomorrow, Sunday, September 17th, until next Tuesday, the 19th, the peace delegations of the National Government and the self-proclaimed “Central General Staff” of the dissidents of the former will meet for the second time FARC under the pseudonym “Iván Mordisco”.

The former minister and director of Indepaz, Camilo González, Posso, said that at the end of this new meeting, which will begin tomorrow, September 17, at 12 p.m., “we will announce the date of the setting up of the table and the start of the ceasefire “in its various phases and measures to protect civilians and the agenda.”
