Police investigate shooting at Black Friday mall in Tacoma

Police are continuing to investigate a shooting at Tacoma Mall, which seriously injured one person and hundreds of shoppers fleeing exits or hiding in stores on Black Friday.

No arrests were reported as of Saturday afternoon.

The shooting began just after 19:00 on Friday outside the food court of the mall. Officer Gary Wurges, a spokesman for the Tacoma Police Department, said two unemployed officers working at the mall quickly called that the shots had been fired.

One man, a man, was injured by the shooting and taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was in stable condition.

While the buyers were hiding from the fire, the officers tried to find the shooter. More than 60 law enforcement officials from Tacoma, Pierce County, Lakewood, Puyallup and Washington State Patrol responded.

KOMO-TV reported that officers working at the mall saw a small group of people engage in a conflict that escalated into a firefight.

When the mall was closed, shoppers took refuge inside or hid inside stores. Tacoma Mall has over 100 stores.

“We were about to get up and I hear about six shots or so,” said KOMO Daisy Docter, who was finishing dinner with her aunt and uncle when the shooting began. “We’re all just running to the door. This is a huge crowd of people. Everyone seems to be pushing. “

Fredrik Hoskins was shopping with his daughter when he heard gunshots.

“It was boom, boom, boom … boom, boom, boom. Maybe about six shots, ”Hoskins, a former military serviceman, told The News Tribune.
