Bern Canton Police said that shortly before 1:50 pm, reports came that a shot had been fired at Enternstrasse in Niederbipp and that one person was injured.
There a seriously injured youth was found lying on the ground. Despite rescue measures by third parties, the police and later the rescue service, the person died on the spot.
According to the information, another person who was injured due to bullet injury in the leg sought help there. It is said that the alleged perpetrator, a 48-year-old Portuguese, was arrested in a residential building. A pistol has been recovered from him. He is in custody.
