NEW YORK — A 16-year-old student was found stabbed inside his Yonkers school Friday morning, local police confirmed.
The condition of the teenager is said to be stable. stabbed on the second floor of Yonkers Middle High School.
Police said two other students, both men, are in custody. They all live in Yonkers.
“This morning an altercation occurred at Yonkers Middle School between three high school students ages 16 and 17. Yonkers City Police and EMS were dispatched to the school. During the altercation, a student was stabbed and received medical attention from the school nurse.” Received immediate medical attention. The student is in stable condition and was transported to a local area trauma medical center,” said Jerilyn Fierstein, communications officer for Yonkers Public Schools.
Furthermore, Fierstein clarified that there is no threat to public safety.
“The situation was quickly brought under control by school personnel. There is no threat to the safety of the public. Normal work in the school started at nine in the morning. School Student Support Professionals are available to assist students or staff. Additional district staff will be at the school throughout the day,” Freestein said.
No other details were immediately available.
