Police suspects in the Times Square shooting: report

According to multiple reports, the police have determined that the main suspect in the shooting in New York City’s Times Square on Saturday is 31-year-old Farahan Mohamed.

Detectives from the New York Police Department (NYPD) released a copy of Wanted poster Listed Muhammad as the person suspected of shooting and wounding three people, including a young child, in Times Square. According to a poster shared by NBC New York reporter Miles Miller on Twitter, it is possible that Muhammad was arrested for attempted murder.

According to Spectrum News, the photo of Muhammad in the poster was taken after his arrest in March 2020.

Two senior officials of the New York Police Department told NBC New York that the suspect tried to shoot his brother after the argument.

According to the New York Post, a detective investigating an unrelated stabbing case approached a man who was very similar to Muhammad. The man told them that he was Muhammad’s brother and that he was the intended target of the shooting.

Police Chief Dermot Shea Said at the press conference On Saturday, the victims—a 4-year-old girl from Brooklyn, a 23-year-old female tourist from Rhode Island, and a 43-year-old woman from New Jersey—are unrelated “innocent bystanders”.

Shay said that 4-year-old and 23-year-old men were shot in the leg, and the 43-year-old man was shot in the foot.

According to the New York Daily News, the aunt of the four-year-old victim, who asked not to be named, said her niece was relatively minor.

“It didn’t hit any important bones because they did an X-ray examination. But they did a thorough cleaning to make sure she wouldn’t get any infections or similar things,” the aunt told the media. “No bullet fragments. They didn’t see anything. It didn’t break, it just entered and then exited.”

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio issued a statement on Twitter in response to the shooting and expressed relief that the victim’s condition was stable.
