Powerball surges to $670 million on Saturday with no winner

October 3 (WNN) — With no winning tickets in the Powerball drawn Saturday, the jackpot has grown to at least $670 million, with a cash value of $474.8 million, lottery officials said.

On Saturday, the numbers drawn were 28-38-42-47-52 and Powerball 1 with a pot of $635 million. The new pot will be at least the sixth largest in the history of the game and the eighth largest in US lottery history. Mega Millions is the second game in the United States.

The next drawing is Monday night at 10:59. Monday’s drawing was added on 23 August, combining the dates for Wednesday and Saturday.

The jackpot was last hit in the June drawing when tickets for $285.6 million were sold in Florida. Since that drawing there have been 49 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner.

In Saturday’s drawing, the Powerball was a ticket to the $1 million prize of five unselected white balls. The 66 winners chose four out of five and the Powerball for $50,000.

The overall chance of winning a prize with a $2 ticket is 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

Tickets to the drawing are sold in 45 states and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. More than half of the proceeds of each ticket sale remains in the jurisdiction in which it was sold. Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

The biggest single lottery winning ever was the $1.5 billion Mega Million jackpot ticket sold in South Carolina in 2018. Two years ago, three winners had to split the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot.
