Automobile companies around the world are constantly striving to promote electric mobility. In this sequence, Germany’s leading automaker BMW is preparing to introduce its new electric bike i Vision Amby soon. This high-speed electric bike will be showcased during the IAA Auto Show to be held in Munich.
It is a concept vehicle and there is confusion regarding its look and design whether it is a motorbike or a cycle. Although in foreign countries, electric bicycle is also known as bike. It is believed that it will be placed between a cycle and a lightweight motorcycle.
Based on the new technology of “Adaptive Mobility”, the BMW Amby has been specially designed keeping in mind the urban areas. It is being told that a three-speed rating system has been given in it for different types of roads. This drive system provides speeds of up to 25 kmph on cycle tracks, 45 kmph on city-centre roads and 60 kmph on multi-lane roads. The company says that users have to pedal continuously to take advantage of the electric drive system.
The upper frame tube of this electric bike is crafted from four aluminum profiles, the smartphone integration pad near the handlebar which helps in securing the device with the help of magnets. It is placed in such a way that the driver can easily keep an eye on the smartphone as well.
This bike has a battery pack of 2,000 Wh capacity, which is mounted in the frame. The company claims that this electric bike can cover a distance of up to 300 km in pedelec riding mode. With its fast-charging technology, its battery can be charged in just three hours.
The highlight of the BMW Amby is the geofencing technology that enables it to recognize the type of road being used. Not only this, it automatically controls the speed depending on the road condition. At present, its concept version will be introduced, there is no information about when its production version will be revealed.
