Pregnant woman dies in road rage incident, police said

Los Angeles: A 23-year-old from Long Beach and her unborn child died on Sunday afternoon following a road rage incident that ended in a three-car collision. A man, who was later arrested, was injured along with a 10-year-old boy.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the woman and boy were in a GMC pickup truck heading south on Long Beach Boulevard just before noon.

The driver of the pickup, 26-year-old Miguel Larios of Long Beach, was in a road rage conflict with the driver of the second car before he collided with the third car, a 2004 Toyota Corolla, which was driving off the curb. On Long Beach Boulevard, south of Mountain View Street, police said.

Police said Larios then lost control of his vehicle and hit a parked, empty pickup near 52nd Street.

The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and rushed Larios and her passengers to the hospital, where the woman and her unborn child died. Larios and the boy are said to have suffered non-fatal injuries. Police did not reveal the name of the woman.

Larios was arrested and booked on two counts of drunk driving, one count of drunk driving, and one count of child endangerment. His bail was set at $200,000.
