Preparatory review: Lakeville North’s Robison scores a record 35 points over Burnsville

Boys Basketball

Lakeville North 87, Burnsville 57: Sophomore Jack Robison scored a career-high 35 points when Lakeville North (9-2) comfortably beat Burnsville (1-8).

The Panthers were leading 25 at half-time as the starting players were resting in the second half. Gavin Bo and Nolan Winter each averaged 13 points in addition to Robison’s performance, while Hudson Weith added 12 points each. Burnsville’s Caliph Bettis has 23 points.

Farmington 95, Prior Lake 87: In a battle between the state’s top two scorers, Farmington’s Kyle Hrnsir beat Prior Lake’s Malcolm Jones both individually and as a team. Hrnsir scored 31 goals against Jones ’28 as the Tigers survived the Lakers’ attack. Eric Duffert added 21 points for Prior Lake (4-7). Biden Bean added 18 points to Farmington (6-5).

Other points: Egan beat Apple Valley 51-42 Eastview defeated Rosemount 80-40 North St. Paul defeated Hastings 79-50 Two Rivers beat Hill-Murray 72-40 Shakopee beat Lakeville South 80-70 Tartan defeated Simli 69-91.

Girls basketball

Hastings 76, North St. Paul 32: Lili Nuytten’s 29 points led the Hastings (8-3) to an unconditional victory over North St. Paul (8-4).

Nuitten’s strong play was complemented by an impressive defensive play. In the second half, Hastings kept Polar by only nine points. Ania Bradford scored 13 points for North St. Paul.

Other points: Highland Park defeated South Minneapolis 46-40 Rosemount beat Eastview 43-25 Egan defeated Apple Valley 78-50 Lakeville North defeated Burnsville 58–43; Hill-Murray beat Two Rivers 85-25 Makhtomedi defeated South St. Paul 82–45; Prior Lake defeated Farmington 73-48.

Hockey boys

Nerd Derham Hall 5, Stillwater 1: Nerd-Durham Hall (11-3) scored five unanswered goals, including three in the third period, and beat Stillwater (8-4) in a battle between the top two Suburban East teams.

Thirty seconds after Stillwater scored the first goal of the game, Jake Sondreal answered with his own goal and equalized midway through the first period. Attila Lippai of Cretin-Derham Hall scored the next two goals of the game and took the lead, Jake Fischer added a third goal and Sondreal scored another goal late to solidify the lead.

Other points: Egan beat Burnsville 6-2; Makhtomedi defeated Simli 2: 1; East Ridge beat Irondale 4-1; Blake defeated St Paul’s Academy 7-0; Prior Lake beat Apple Valley 5-2; Istiview defeated White Bear Lake 4-1.

Hockey girls

Simley 6, North St. Paul / Tartan 1: Simley (12-4-2) scored in the first 24 seconds of the game and has never looked back in a win over North St. Paul / Tartan (8-6).

Simli’s defense allowed just 14 shots on goal, including just one in the first period, while the attack, by contrast, scored six times out of 35. Kelsey Rees scored twice and provided an assist while teammate Ella Tucchitto scored one goal and completed with two assists. Jill Takabka scored North St. Paul / Tartan’s only goal with seven minutes remaining in the third period.

Other points: Forest Lake beat Mounds View 3-2; Stillwater beat Park Cottage Grove 12-2; Hastings defeated Two Rivers / St. Floor 4-0.
