President Abinder highlights contribution from agriculture sector and offers support to buy 20 million eggs from producers

Espaillat. – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, led this Saturday in Moca a meeting with producers from all over the country, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, on the occasion of the National Farmer’s Day, which is celebrated every May 15.

The President thanked agricultural producers for their performance in terms of production, while highlighting that due to its productive capacity, inflation in the country has not been as high as others in the region due to the crisis in addition to the passage of the pandemic Is. “Thank you, thanks to the day-to-day joint work between the government and the agricultural sector, that inflation was lower than in most countries, thanks to the work that you are doing,” the president emphasized to those present.

The President also announced that through INESPRE and in coordination with small producers, an amount of 20 million fresh eggs would be procured in two batches, which would be allocated for the benefit of the President’s social programs and that of the region.

On the subject of chicken production, he ordered the Minister of Agriculture, Limbert Cruz, to hold a meeting next week to discuss the issue of the chicken pledge, achieving a balance between producers and the end consumer, as well as discussing possible allowances For older chickens.

The President reminded the agriculture sector that they are not alone, as the government has tried to maintain the current national output despite the situation arising in the country. In this regard, he highlighted that production of most important commodities increased: rice by 2.3%, beans by 3.9%, onions by 3.7%, vegetables by 6.8%, bananas by 6.1%, and tilapia production by more than 50%.

Several people from the region were felicitated for their performance and dedication to the agriculture sector, including rice growers, beekeepers, fish farmers and cattle rearers, who expressed their gratitude towards the government for supporting them in their various fields.
