Prevent diabetes in the elderly

Zampango, Max. To promote health care among the elderly, professionals belonging to the Multidisciplinary Brigade of the Ministry of Social Development organized information spaces on diabetes in the municipalities of Zampango and La Paz.

She talked about the different types of the condition and the warning signs to see a doctor and get fasting glucose monitoring under control to improve their quality of life and prevent those serious complications. that put their health at risk.

In this sense, it was recommended to define the program of food intake, to avoid products high in sugars and cereals, as well as to do moderate physical activity daily. Some myths and facts on this subject were also mentioned.

The event featured the participation of an expert in psychology, who addressed the emotional effects of being diagnosed with diabetes, such as depression and anxiety, as a conflict that they must gradually overcome.

He explained that, on many occasions, this condition leads to degeneration that damages the brain due to dementia, so it is necessary to take care of the body to prevent this.

Finally, they were taught some low-impact exercises they could do at home, with equipment they had on hand, that helped improve their health and quality of life.
