Prithvi Shaw’s opposite Instagram stories become the talk of the town after India’s condemnation and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings

Prithvi Shaw shared opposite stories on his Instagram handle in a span of 9 hours on Thursday which became the talk of the town. The first story of the attacking opener, shared on Thursday morning, was a picture of Shirdi Sai Baba along with a motivational quote. “Do not give up, your miracle is on the way,” read the quote. This could have something to do with India’s T20 squad for the two-match series in Ireland announced on Wednesday evening. Shaw was not named in the 17-man squad that included Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav.

Jaiswal did not score a single run in Mumbai’s opening partnership of 66 runs in the second innings. Of these, 64 were scored by Shaw at a strike rate of 90 while the other two were extras. Jaiswal, who played aggressive cricket while opening with Jos Buttler for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022, was dismissed for 64 off 71 balls by Shaw in the 21st over.

When left-armer Jaiswal hit a boundary off UP pacer Ankit Rajput on his 54th delivery, the entire Mumbai dressing room stood up and applauded. Some players from UP also participated in it. Jaiswal saw the funny side of it and raised his bat.

Mumbai bowled brilliantly to bundle out Uttar Pradesh for 180 runs and took a crucial first innings lead on the third day. Resuming on an overnight score of 25 for two, the UP batsmen could add just 155 runs as Tushar Deshpande (3/34), off-spinners Tanush Kotian (3/35) and Mohit Awasthi (3/39) took the lead in their Shared nine wickets in the middle. Mumbai Dhawal Kulkarni (1/25) also dodged it from the scalp.

Mumbai posted 133 for 1 on Day 3, thanks to Shaw’s blistering knock of 64, which included 12 fours.
