After being disrupted for a week, this Sunday, May 21, from 11 a.m. on the Chuquikara-Quiroz Highway, Palasca Province’s main access, Uncash was temporarily restored, vehicular traffic was reported.
After painstaking work, which included blasting huge rocks that had fallen onto the road platform, crews of Provias Nacional workers, with the help of a backhoe, were able to provisionally resume all types of vehicular traffic to Palasca Province Were.
As is public knowledge, on May 14 at 12:30 pm a hill collapsed and vehicular movement was disrupted on the National Highway, Route PE-12, Kilometer 11.
Immediately, COER Ácash notified the person in charge of disaster risk management of the Macate provincial government and the Provias Nacional (Zonal Unit VI – Ácash) to assess the damage and take actions to relieve the vehicular impasse.
The restoration of vehicles is scheduled for Tuesday the 23rd, however, the longer working days have made it possible to bring this forecast forward.
“Residents appreciate the work of the staff at the Provias Nacional Huaraz headquarters, who have done their best to solve the problem,” said Carlos Acosta, a man from Palasquino who was returning to Nuevo Llemucha.
On the other hand, it was learned that the workers of Provias Nacional will continue to work this Sunday to try to complete the work on the scheduled date. He warned that the work area will be closed from 7 am to 12 noon on Monday the 22nd to finalize the details.
In this way, users would be able to use the road, avoiding having to travel or transfer on a long journey through Trujillo as they were doing to enter Pallasca Province.
It is necessary to point out that the Provias Nacional (Zonal Unit VI-ANcash), which is fully operational, will continue to clean up and rehabilitate the road.
