Since 1988, 31 May has been designated by the World Health Organization as World No Tobacco Day. The day is established to encourage tobacco users to stop using tobacco products for 24 hours.
In Canada and other countries, the percentage of smokers is decreasing, but there are ongoing efforts to discourage people from smoking and help tobacco users quit.
