As uncertainty reigns over the lives of people around the world amid the coronavirus pandemic, actor Rakul Preet Singh believes the gloomy family members have brought each other closer together.
It is only fitting that Rakul’s upcoming film Sardar Ka Grandson, which will be released on Netflix on Tuesday, celebrates the unconditional love among family members.
The film tells the story of a grandson (Arjun Kapoor) who returns from the USA and who will do everything in his power to fulfill his aging grandmother’s (Neena Gupta)’s last wish.
In the Kaashvie Nair-directed film, Rakul plays Radha, an independent strong woman and Arjun’s love interest.
“The emotion in the film is very universal. It’s not just about a grandmother and her grandson. It’s about people going to family to a different degree. It’s about giving interest to your family.
“I think we have never understood or realized the importance of family as in the past year, since the pandemic hit the world,” Singh told PTI in a Zoom interview.
Sardar Ka Grandson was made for the big screen, but due to the increase in Covid-19 cases, it is being released on the spreader.
“I think as an actor, each of us in the ideal situation wants the magic of the screen and wants the experience. But at the moment, we have a platform like Netflix to show it,” she said.
