Ranbir Kapoor: I wish my father was alive to watch ‘Shamshera’ – Nation World News

Ranbir Kapoor will soon be seen playing the quintessential hero of a larger life for the first time in his career with action entertainer ‘Shamshera’. Ranbir, who is returning to the big screen after four years with blockbuster ‘Sanju’, believes that his father great Rishi Kapoor would have loved to see him in Shamshera and as him. Rishi Kapoor always wanted his son to try out the role of a hero who can connect with audiences across the country and Ranbir is overwhelmed that his father couldn’t see the vengeful spectacle.

Ranbir says, ‘I wish my father was alive to see this film. He’s always been frankly honest about his criticism, if he liked or didn’t like something, especially with my work. So, it’s sad that he’s not going to see it. But I am really excited that I got a chance to do a film like this and I hope that somewhere he is looking for me and he is proud of me.”

Ranbir says ‘Shamshera’ is his attempt to speak to a pan-India audience. He says, “I definitely want to grow as an actor and a star and ‘Shamshera’ is definitely a positive step in that direction. You want to make films for a bigger audience. You tell such stories. Want to connect and entertain different generations of audiences.”

He further added, “‘Shamshera’ is a step in that direction but the film is yet to release. I am very curious to know how people will accept me in this part, but I am very excited that I will also get this part. Got a chance to play that kind of role.”

In the fictional town of Kaza, a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh. This is the story of a man who became a slave, a slave who became a leader and then became a legend for his clan. He fights tirelessly for the freedom and honor of his clan. Her name is Shamshera.

The high-octane, adrenaline-pumping entertainer is set in the heart of India in the 1800s. This is a never seen before big promise from Ranbir Kapoor who plays the role of Shamshera in the film. Sanjay Dutt plays Ranbir’s arch-enemy in this massive casting coup and his showdown with Ranbir will be a sight to behold as they will go after each other brutally without any mercy.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, this action extravaganza is produced by Aditya Chopra and is slated to release on July 22, 2022 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
