NEW YORK ( Associated Press) – The Texas Rangers will host the 2024 All-Star Game, Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred announced Thursday.
In a speech at the conclusion of this week’s owners’ meeting in New York, Manfred announced that the meeting would take place on July 16, 2024, at Globe Life Field, which opened during the pandemic-hit 2020 season.
The venue served as a neutral site for the World Series and National League Championship Series that season.
In 2023, the All-Star Game will be held in Seattle, which has not hosted it since 2001, Ichiro Suzuki’s rookie year and Cal Ripken Jr.’s final season.
Philadelphia will host the game in 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. No announcement has been made regarding the 2025 meeting.
The Rangers will host the All-Star Game for the second time. In the last one, the National League won 3–2 at The Ballpark in Arlington in 1995.
It was the first All-Star Game since the strike that canceled the remainder of the season and the 1994 postseason reduced the schedule to 144 games in 1995.
“The Texas Rangers have been awarded the 2024 All-Star Game site,” majority owner Ray Davis said in a statement. Venue for Major League Baseball and the Midseason Classic.
Mayor Jim Ross said in the same statement, “We are honored to again be selected by Major League Baseball to host the All-Star Game.”
