Rape. Gottheimer ‘incredibly optimistic’ Dems will pass both infrastructure, reconciliation

Rep Josh Gottheimer:

Okay, just one more point, because you made an important point here.

Finally – at the end of August, we all came together here in the House, and every single Democrat voted to get the infrastructure bill on the floor this week, right? So let’s just not lose sight of that. This is because I think everyone has recognized its importance.

Finally, what’s happening – on the bill we’re going to settle, on reconciliation, whatever the final number, what’s most important is, as I was talking about, climate – and fighting climate change and helping the state Restoration and local tax deduction.

And we’re not going to bring a bill into the House that we can’t get out of the Senate, where we can’t get 50 Democrats and a vice president. And I know we can get there. I’m talking to everyone. And I will tell you that there has to be a compromise here.

But the idea is that we will — that no Democrat will vote for this infrastructure bill, with millions of jobs on the line, with our nation’s infrastructure fixed, and when it’s here since early August. Waiting to act, just doesn’t make sense to me.

And when I talk to the people of the house, they look at me, like, why don’t you get this done for the country and bury those shovels in the ground that we’ve been waiting for?
