Reenergiza SL, better known by the trade name SOLARMAT, is a specialized installation company in photovoltaics and electric vehicles located in the municipality of La Nucía, in the northern province, and which since 2014 has been promoting photovoltaic self-consumption throughout Spain, mainly in the neighboring Community of Valencia and Murcia.
Its founder and director José Miguel Corrales, an industrial engineer from UPV, and until recently also a professor at the Distance University of Madrid in the Master’s Degree in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies, was more than just an entrepreneur in the energy sector. 12 years ago, this newspaper records how the situation of self-consumption has changed in all this time.
“We have come from the time of the famous ‘sun tribute’, by the former minister of Soria, with the Aznar regime, which caused so much damage in the province, and which was ridiculed throughout the world. Those of us who promoted and believed in photovoltaic self-consumption at the time were branded as crazy, and looked at us as if we were promoting an illegal activity. It’s good to see how everything has changed and now it’s the best moment in the history of solar photovoltaic energy in Spain.”
In this sense, Corrales highlights that in just two years it has gone from the execution of a few dozen installations per year to the installation of more than half a thousand in 2022, “between residential and industrial installations, and now also finally for collective self-consumption”. The Reenergiza builder represents this type of facility (also called “self-consumption”) that was built by the Altea Energy Community Neighborhood Association with the help of Reenergiza and another local partnership.
“The collective self-financing modality is not yet widespread, but it will grow exponentially in the coming years, since it will allow many citizens who live in flats and SMEs, without the possibility of having a roof where they can install solar panels, to also save. in bills electrical This is really democratizing the industry, and consumers as the author, that is, producers and consumers. In this way they are safer against the injury of the increase in the price of electricity, which we all suffered last year, which in many cases tripled the cost of a normal month and almost led to the collapse of multiple businesses.
In the same lines, the author declares that he is satisfied that he was able to build a second facility of this type in the province of Alicante, after the experiences in Crevillent. “Alicante in providing this type of facility allows us to offer them other towns in the province. Projects are rewarding, because with the installation of up to 100kW you can help dozens of citizens and SMEs to reduce their energy costs.”
