New Delhi: Union Minister Narayan Ran’s son Nitesh posted a video on Twitter at midnight on Tuesday attacking the Maharashtra government over his father’s arrest. The video posted by Nitesh is part of a scene from a political film and shows actor Manoj Vajpayee warning “Kara Jawab Miliga”.
Narayan Rana was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly trying to slap Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, sparking a scuffle between Shiv Sena activists and another political confrontation between the ruling three-party alliance and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Ran was arrested at Golavali in Ratnagiri district, where he was traveling as part of a John Ashirwad rally.
Rane Micro, Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises and the first Union Minister to be arrested in two decades, as Murasoli Maran and TR Balu were arrested by Tamil Nadu police in a midnight raid in Chennai in 2001.
The 16-year-old was produced before the Mahad court in Raigarh on Tuesday night and was granted bail. However, the magistrate court directed the Union Minister to appear before the Ratnagiri police station for questioning on August 1 and September 1.
The court warned Rane not to commit such crimes in future.
At a function on Monday, Minister Thackeray complained of ignorance about the year of India’s independence and said he would give a hard slap.
FIRs were lodged against Rani in several places, including Nasik and Pune, on the basis of allegations made by Shiv Sena leaders.
