Reid led LSU to Wake Forest 75-61 in the ECC Title Game. NWN News

Destin, Fla. (NWN) — Afton Reid scored 14 points and a big run in the first half as LSU secured a 75-61 win over Wake Forest in the championship game of the Emerald Coast Classic on Saturday.

Wake Forest led 11-6 after a 3-pointer by Khadim C with 12:18 in the first half, but Reid hit home a dunk that seemed to spark the Tigers (7-0). Tari Eason chased Reed with a bucket and two free throws and Brandon Murray, Xavier Pinson and Alex Fudge all scored 15-0 with 3 hits to put the Tigers 21-11 and 8 in the first half. :02 left.

Damon Deacon (6-1) closed within three points, but Eason started a 7-0 lead with 3 points and LSU led 31-21 at halftime. Reid scored on a jumper and a hook shot in the first two minutes of the second half and the Tigers’ lead never went below nine after halftime.

Reid lost 7 of 9 shots for LSU. Darius Days scored 12 points, but only hit 1 of 6 points from a distance. Feud comes off the bench for 11 runs and grabs nine rebounds. Eric Gaines scored 11 runs in all seven of this free throw.

Devian Williams hit 12 of 13 foul shots and scored 20 runs to give Deacon the pace. Jake Laravia scored with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Alondes Williams contributed 14 points and eight boards.

The teams combined lost 32 of 43 shots from 3-point range.
