The next coach to lead the USMNT will have a huge responsibility as he will be the one to lead the team towards the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.
But, according to AS, US Soccer may have already picked a helmsman for the Stars and Stripes team.
Jesse Marsh will be the new US coach
The sports media cited a report by journalist Alex Calabrese, which suggests that Jesse Marsh will be the technical director chosen to lead Team USA.
An article written by Calabrese on meninred97.com reports that Marsh is considered the clear favorite to take over the position and even has his appointment “practically done”, according to sources close to him.
It also indicates that it will be after the Gold Cup when Marsh can start working with Team USA.
The former Chicago Fire and USMNT player has said in the past that managing the United States national team would be his “dream job”.
“I love the USA, I love the American mentality, I love our desire to be the best in every way,” the former player said in 2021.
“Of course, the project [USMNT] It’s incredibly interesting,” he added about it.
However, when asked about his work with the USMNT a few weeks ago, he did not want to comment.
According to the article, US Soccer sports director Matt Crocker, who has been tasked with finding the team’s new helmsman, will officially begin his position as of August 2, though they will look to the USMNT until the end of the summer for their new coach.
If this information is confirmed, Marsh will be one step closer to landing his dream job, while Anthony Hudson will continue to lead the team in the summer competitions.
