WASHINGTON, Utah—Representative Chris Stewart announced his planned resignation from the US House of Representatives on Wednesday.
Representative Stewart said, “Serving the good people of Utah in Congress has been one of the great honors of my life.” “My wife and I have made many dear friends and memories during our journey. I can proudly say that I have been an effective leader for my beloved home state and honored to have played a key role in guiding our country through difficult times.” But my wife’s health problems have made it necessary for me to withdraw from the Congress after ensuring an orderly transition.
“My family and I have been so blessed by this experience. Thank you to everyone who has supported and sacrificed to help us. The fight continues. God bless you all, and God bless our country.”
Stewart graduated from Utah State University in 1984 before joining the United States Air Force. He was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 2012 and served six terms.
