Madison, Wisconsin-The wife of a Wisconsin state congressman has been outspokenly criticizing the mandatory requirements for vaccines and masks, and is still hospitalized for pneumonia caused by COVID-19. She urges people to get the coronavirus vaccine.
Republican State Senator Andre Jacques has been hospitalized since August 16. A few days later, he was placed on a ventilator.
His wife Renee Jacque said in an email to WBAY-TV on Monday that five of their eight family members have tested positive for COVID-19. They have six children, including one baby. She said that of the three fully vaccinated family members, one person was infected with the virus and had mild symptoms.
“Although vaccination is a personal choice, I ask those who are qualified and able to get the COVID-19 vaccine to consider trusting the medical professionals who recommend it. These professionals and their peers are also people we trust and can take care of me. Husband,” Renee Jacque wrote.
She did not disclose which family members had COVID-19, nor did she disclose their condition or the latest situation of her husband.
Neither the staff of Jacques’ office nor his family confirmed whether the senator had been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Senator Jacque’s brother Pierre Jacque also encouraged vaccination.
“Although I am grateful for praying for my brothers, and I understand that they feel that they are helping, but I will ask them to tell you, use some of the help God has given them to keep them away from the same situation,” Pierre. Jacques said.
Senator Jacque serves the First Senate District, which covers all of Door County and Kewanee County, as well as parts of Brown County, Kalume County, and Manitowoc County.
