Research states that 42% of workers in the US have not taken holidays in the past year due to high costs

According to research by Eagle Hill Consulting, A large proportion of US workers say they do not take vacations due to high costs,

42% of US workers report that they haven’t taken a vacation in the past 12 months, And nearly half of workers (47%) say the cost of taking a vacation is the biggest obstacle to taking time off.

The conclusion is that employee burnout in the US workforce remains alarmingly high. Nearly half (49%) of employees say they feel burned out at work.

“Employees really need time to unplug from work, especially as we continue to see high levels of burnout in the American workforce”Melissa Jazier, President and CEO of Eagle Hill Consulting, said. “Ideally, employees should be completely disconnected from work, rather than constantly checking email and responding to messages.”

For Jeizor, it’s not just employees who benefit from taking time off, because that’s when it’s time to rest. Employers are more likely to have a workforce that is engaged in peak performance: “It is up to employers to create a culture that encourages employees to take regular breaks and completely disconnect from their jobs while they are away,” Jazier explained.

Relevant survey data:

– 42% of workers have not taken leave in the last 12 months, Highest among young workers (50%) and low-income workers (56%).

– Workers say barriers to taking a completely unplugged vacation include cost involved (47%), self-imposed pressure to stay on task (31%); heavy workload (27%), Not on time payment (25%); and not having a partner available to cover their workload (25%).

– Many workers do not completely unplug during time off. whereas 54% say they completely disconnect from work during the holidays, 28% say they check email and messages from work; While 6% say that they continue to work during the holidays.

The findings are based on the Eagle Hill Consulting Workforce Survey conducted by Ipsos from August 11-16, 2022. The 2022 Eagle Hill Consulting Workforce Burnout Survey involved 1,000 respondents from a random sample of employees on burnout and on vacation in the United States.
