Residents in the Health Sector I Participate in the 7th Edition of the Clinical Case Competition
The Teaching Service of the I-Arrixaca Health Sector organizes annually a competition for clinical cases in which all residents who are studying their specialty in the sector can participate. Thus, in the 2022 call, which corresponds to the seventh edition of the competition, residents of Medicine, Pharmacy and Biochemistry have participated. Specifically, 202 cases have been submitted and nine have been selected.
The best case in this edition has been for the paper on ‘Posterior compressive optic neuropathy, a rare manifestation of chronic rhinosinusitis related to IgG4’ by Gloria Garcia Egia, a fourth year resident in Neurology.
The call starts in November and there is one month for cases to be submitted, after which the Teaching Service carries out a review process to select the best ones.
All cases submitted and accepted are part of a printed publication that each edition is composed of, which is why they are scored in the syllabus as book chapters. The chosen ones are also speakers of a general healing session in La Arrixaca.
The objective of the competition is to encourage research in postgraduate training and dissemination, communicating it in the most engaging way possible. It also serves as a dissertation, generating research competence of future professionals, a bibliographic search, standardized writing and referencing of findings, among other aspects. For this, participants have advice from the teaching service.
