Brooke Blurton has broken her silence on her split from boyfriend Darvid Garelli.
The West Australian posted a heartwarming message on social media on Thursday evening, in which he mourned his separation from the man chosen for the 2021 season of The Bachelorette.
It looks like Blurton, the first Indigenous and bi-gender bachelor, has found true love with the handsome 27-year-old.
But Garelli announced their separation at the beginning of the new year.
Blurton was disappointed with how he announced the split without consulting him, but revealed that it was his call for a break-up.
“As you all know, Darvid and I have gone our separate ways,” Blurton wrote, followed by a broken heart emoji.
“In an ideal world I would have preferred to have a mutual agreement and/or have a say in when/how we express it to the public, but instead woke up to news that clearly shocked me. That’s where you saw my response.
“But Darvid had every right to make that decision, his platform, he could choose it for himself.
“I’ll be the first to say that it was my choice to end the relationship and I’ve been thinking about it for a while. My reasons for that are completely valid to me.
“I was sad for a short time and it wasn’t just because of the relationship.
“I have a lot of respect for Darvid and everything he gave for me in the relationship, but it seems we both lost ourselves along the way.
“We had a lot of true love in a very unrealistic situation but there was equally a lot of pressure on us. Which I thought I would carry every day.”
Blurton insisted that there was no infidelity to trigger the split, and that the pair remained ‘cordial’.
“I love Darvid and he has a good heart but unfortunately we became two different people who wanted different things and that’s all.
“No infidelity, no hate, just a pressure cooker.”
Blurton also said that she was keen to return home to begin a “massive healing process”, but “I just want Mark McGowen (sic) to let me in”.
