Buenos Aires ( Associated Press) – River Plate beat Independiente 1-0 at the Libertadores de América Stadium on Sunday for the Argentine Football League’s twelfth round with a late goal from Matias Suárez.
East Anderlecht scored the only goal of the game in the 91st minute.
The first part was dull. The most obvious position for the locals was Leandro Benegas whose header was controlled by Franco Armani on 40.
The river plains dominated in the second half and became uneven only towards the end. Bruno Zuculini finished far away. Suarez caught the rebound and defined it to a post from the right for the final 1-0.
“The team played a great game. It was my turn to change”, Suarez said. “In the second half, we went looking for him. We won the match well.”
River Plate, like Boca Juniors, who beat the Plateaus 2-1 at La Bombonera on Saturday, have 18 points.
Arsenal de Sarandi beat Atlético Tucumán 3–1, who remain the only leader of the tournament with 25 units despite the loss.
Huracán beat Aldoivi 1-0 in the 87th minute with a penalty goal from Franco Cristaldo.
San Lorenzo and Estudiants drew 0-0.
Newell’s Old Boys and Colon later played.
