Robbie Williams unseats Elvis Presley

Robbie Williams has been in the business as a solo artist for 25 years now. That alone commands respect. In addition, he is also extremely successful. In the British album charts, he can now even break an ancient record set by Elvis Presley.
Robbie Williams’ best-of album XXV was released on September 9th. On Friday, the work made it to the top of the UK charts, giving the musician a record in his home country. As the British “Daily Mail” reports, Williams has now made it onto the throne of the official British album charts a total of 14 times with the new success. In doing so, he breaks Elvis Presley’s previous record as a solo artist for most UK number one albums. As a group, the Beatles hold the record with 15 top rankings.
Including his work with Take That, Robbie Williams has now clocked up a total of 19 UK chart-topping albums. Only Sir Paul McCartney from the Beatles has more: he was able to celebrate chart success a total of 23 times with The Beatles, Wings or as a solo artist.
Robbie Williams: ‘Fans never took it for granted’
Williams said of his new album on Friday, according to the Daily Mail: “I’m so glad it went to number one and while it feels strange to receive an award in these dark times, I wanted to thank you all for yours Thank you for your support and dedicating this to the fans that I have never taken for granted and will never take for granted.”
In addition to versions of his greatest hits recorded with orchestra, the new single “Lost” can be heard on the album “XXV”. The song “is about the times in my life when I’ve run away from myself and been very inconsiderate,” the singer said in an announcement. Williams will be touring the UK and Ireland with XXV this fall. The former Take That member is celebrating a half-round anniversary this year: the music star has been on stage as a solo singer for 25 years.
