An ongoing medical examination revealed that Sao Paulo must monitor the injury of its central defender Robert Arboleda, who is doubtful for this Sunday’s Copa do Brasil final against Flamengo.
Arboleda was injured while playing with the Ecuadorian team in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Uruguay. The defender opened a wait to receive the results of the medical examinations as he was optimistic about being with his club in search of an unprecedented title for his shows.

The central defender returned to Sao Paulo on Wednesday and this morning the club carried out new medical examinations and issued a medical certificate that casts doubt on the Ecuadorian’s performance in the final against Flamengo at the Maracana Stadium.
“Defender Arboleda was substituted during the Ecuador-Uruguay clash due to pain in the back of his left thigh and underwent an imaging test on Thursday morning which revealed no muscle injury but did reveal fibrosis in the area,” Sao Paul published.
On his social networks, Arboleda published a picture of the club’s training ground with the message: “We are fine, thank God.”
The Tricolor football player’s recovery process has already begun at the Sao Paulo complex and, according to the medical department, “his condition is being reassessed daily.”
The first leg final of the Copa do Brasil will be played this Sunday (2:00 p.m.) at the Maracana and, with optimal recovery, the Ecuadorian will form a central duo with Beraldo, who played with Diego Costa in the absence of Arboleda against Inter de Porto on Wednesday about the 1:2 defeat against Brasileirao.
