Robert Maraj, the father of rapper Nicki Minaj, died on Saturday after being hit and run in Long Island, authorities said.
Mr. Maraj was walking in the driveway near the intersection of Roslyn Road and Raff Avenue in Mineola, NY, around 6:15 p.m. Friday when he was hit by a northbound vehicle leaving the scene, Nassau police said. a statement.
Maraj, 64, a Mineola resident, was transported to a hospital in critical condition, police said before being pronounced dead by a doctor at the hospital on Saturday.
The Nassau County Police Department said its homicide was being investigated.
A representative of Ms. Minaj confirmed his death but did not provide further details.
